Activity Description

The LGBTQ Equity in HIV Prevention and Treatment is a multi-module series of HealthHIV and the National Coalition for LGBTQ Health to strengthen workforce capacity to provide comprehensive care to LGBTQ persons. The National Education Center LGBTQ Health addresses strategies that reduce health disparities for LGBTQ populations. The Center hosts brief, educational modules each within its own topic-specific series. The series will include five 30-45 minute modules on equitable access, structural barriers to care, medical mistrust, and care coordination, with a focus on engaging gay/bisexual Black and Latino men, and transgender persons, addressing structural racism, and enhancing culturally competent and sensitive care.

Content will focus on overcoming systemic barriers that persist in health access, such as literacy and education gaps, language justice, systemic discrimination, and healthcare misinformation or distrust. By highlighting these barriers and emphasizing an equity focus, the series aims to improve access to HIV prevention and treatment options among LGBTQ persons —especially those who are historically and routinely affected by the syndemics of ongoing and emerging epidemics.

Disclosure & Conflict of Interest Policy
HealthHIV is committed to providing high quality continuing education to healthcare professionals, as individuals and teams, with a protected space to learn, teach, and engage in scientific discourse free from influence from ineligible companies that may have an incentive to insert commercial bias into education. To that end, HealthHIV requires faculty, presenters, planners, staff, and other individuals who are in a position to control the content of this CE activity to disclose all financial relationships they have had in the past 24 months with ineligible companies as defined by the ACCME, as related to the content of this CE activity, regardless of the amount or their view of the relevance to the education. All identified COI will be thoroughly vetted and mitigated according to HealthHIV policy. These disclosures will be provided to learners prior to the start of the CE activity.
