Title: Best Practices for Whole Person Care: Fundamentals of HIV and PrEP


Description: This webinar equips case managers with the essential knowledge needed to support clients across the HIV prevention and care continuum. Fundamentals of HIV will provide an overview of HIV transmission, diagnosis, and how treatment works - especially the significance of viral suppression and(Undetectable=Untransmissible) U=U in reducing stigma and supporting client engagement. Fundamentals of PrEP will focus on helping case managers understand PrEP options, eligibility, access, and strategies to help clients initiate and stay connected to prevention services. This training centers health equity and practical applications to help case managers build confidence in supporting clients, navigating systems, and strengthening linkage to HIV prevention and care.

  • Explain the basics of HIV and how it impacts the immune system

  • Identify primary modes of HIV transmission and correct common client misconceptions

  • Describe common HIV testing methods

  • Explain the role of HIV treatment , the meaning of viral suppression, and how U=U can be used to reduce stigma and support client engagement

  • Define PrEP and its role in HIV prevention, using language case managers can confidently share with clients
