HealthHIV HIV Prevention Certified Provider Program


The HealthHIV HIV Prevention Certified Provider™ Certification Program is an online, self-paced CME accredited certification program composed of seven modules in HIV prevention detailing the pertinent clinical and practice information that clinicians need to effectively employ HIV prevention interventions.

Upon successful completion of this program, participants earn a certification recognizing their designation as an HIV Prevention Certified Provider (HIVPCP) and receive a listing in the national online directory alongside thousands of other HIV Prevention Certified Providers™. The curriculum is updated annually and more frequently as needed, based on approval of new biomedical interventions and the release of evidence-based practices.

Additional PrEP navigation training is available through HealthHIV’s HIV PrEP Navigation Certification (HIVPNC) Program, which is the only certification program in PrEP navigation offered to providers and allied health professionals to deliver inclusive, affirming PrEP navigation services backed by current data and clinical best practice.


Target Audience This activity is intended for providers (physicians, PAs, NPs, nurses, pharmacists), allied health professionals (navigators, case managers, social workers, disease intervention specialists, health educators) and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients at risk for acquiring HIV.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Determine patient risk of HIV infection and eligibility for HIV prevention strategies, such as PrEP, by initiating a patient-provider dialogue regarding sexual health and behavior to overcome HIV stigma
  • Recognize population-based considerations for HIV prevention and/or PrEP (eg people experiencing homelessness, persons of child-bearing age, youth, and older adults)
  • Facilitate access to HIV prevention strategies by effectively engaging with and connecting patients to resources throughout the PrEP care continuum (e.g., HIV testing,PrEP initiation and adherence, medical home)
  • Differentiate current and emerging HIV PrEP options based on the latest guidelines regarding clinical use as well as recent evidence to support initiation, monitoring, and retention of diverse patients in HIV prevention services

After you have completed all seven HIVPCP modules, select this module to receive a final certificate and confirm your HIVPCP™ certification.

Once you obtain your certificate, you can register for the national database and access your toolkit materials including an e-mail signature, social media assets, office posters, and palm cards.


For those certified in the past year, (between April 1, 2023 to March 26, 2024), please complete Module 7 to fulfill the updated knowledge gap requirement to maintain your HIVPCP™ certification. Upon completion of Module 7, please select this module to receive your extended certification.
